Reno Rebuild Fund
Applications Now Being Accepted!

The Reno Rebuild Fund (renorebuild.com), administered by the Community Foundation of Western Nevada, supports and encourages local business owners and potential business owners. The Advisory Committee of this fund—Michael Connolly, Chris Kahl, and Zachary Cage—is extremely passionate about our community and all those within it who want to achieve their goals and make our community stronger.

The first low-interest loan—up to $20,000 in one or multiple loans—will be awarded through a competitive selection process in 2013. The winning idea will be selected based upon a review of its business plan, economic need of the business founders, and use of vacant property. Priority will be given to businesses locating in Reno or Sparks. The Community Foundation, a public nonprofit charitable foundation, is managing the invested funds and administering the loan selection process. Payment of interest and principal of loans will be returned to the Reno Rebuild fund to be used for future seed loans for Reno/Sparks business ventures.

Loans from the Reno Rebuild Fund are designed to not only offer financial support but professional support as well. If your application is selected, you may receive assistance from business professionals in a variety of fields to focus on and build your business. We believe that by supplying a loan and additional tools of support, your business has a greater chance of success.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Have or plan to start a small local business in the Reno/Sparks area
  • Have an independently-owned business or business idea (no franchises please)
  • Use the loan to start a new business or help expand an existing business
  • Have a detailed business plan
  • Be community focused and community involved

To apply, complete the attached application and email it to Tracy Turner, Program Officer at the Community Foundation of Western Nevada, tturner@cfwnv.org. The applications are due on March 15, 2013.

The Advisory Committee will meet to begin the process of selecting an awardee in April 2013. The selection process will consist of reviewing the application and all required documents and, potentially, interviewing some of the candidates; the interview may also include a site visit.

Selected applicants will be notified in June 2013. To accept the loan, you will be required to sign an agreement letter and contract. You may also be asked to participate in a mentor relationship.

We look forward to building a strong relationship with you that will grow and be mutually beneficial to all parties involved. We hope that by the end of this process we have provided you with ongoing tools and business relationships that will ultimately create strong success.

Thank you for being a leader in this community. We appreciate your drive and desire and hope to further support you and your business.
